Q. How do I know when my roof has a problem or needs replaced or repaired?
A. Roofing problems are usually discovered after minor leaking or some damage occurs. Periodic inspections can uncover damaged or missing shingles, loose seams and deteriorated flashings, excessive surface granules accumulation in the gutters or downspouts and other visible signs of roof problems. If your roof is damaged, look for cracked paint on your ceilings, discolored plasterboard and peeling wallpaper as signs. We are happy to provide roof repair or replacement if you request or is deemed necessary.
Q. My roof leaks. Do I need to have it replaced?
A. Possibly, but not necessarily. Leaking can result because some flashings have come loose, or because a section of the roof has been damaged. A roof failure is generally irreversible and results from improper installation or choice of materials. Have an inspection to ensure that you do not need your roof fully replaced.
Q. Can't I just do the work myself?
A. Most of the work should not be done by you. Professional roofing contractors like Pro Roofing and Siding are trained to safely and efficiently repair or replace a roof. Untrained repairmen can harm a roof with improper roofing techniques and severely injure themselves by falling off or even through a roof in need of repair or replacement. Homeowner maintenance should be confined to roof inspections in both the fall and spring to check for cracked or curling shingles, and to cleaning rain gutters filled with dead leaves and other debris.
Q. How long should my current roof last?
A. The lifespan of your roof will depend mostly on the type of roof you have, the effects of your local environment and the maintenance, which the roof has received. Asphalt generally last 15 - 20 years; wood shingle/shakes 10-40 years; clay/concrete tiles 20+ years; slate 30-100 years; metal roofing 15-40+ years.
Q. If I need a new roof, how much will it cost?
A. The price of a new roof varies widely; depending on the material selected, the home itself, time of year, and more. You need to look at the full range of materials and make a choice based on your budget and needs.
Q. Why should I use Pro Roofing and Siding?
A. Because Pro Roofing and Siding will always work in your best interest, utilizing the best materials, techniques, equipment, insurance coverage and the best trained, most experienced craftsmen.
Q. How long will it take to install my roof?
A. The length of time it takes depends on how large your home is, the time of year, and the type of material you choose for replacement. We work as quickly as we can to complete any roofing project.
Q. What happens if it rains while you're installing my roof?
A. We watch the weather very closely. We only tear off sections at a time and then re-roof. We never tear off with a chance of rain in the forecast. When we leave at night, your roof is completely watertight.
Q. Will you tear up my yard?
A. Absolutely not! We install your new roof and leave everything else the way we found it!
Some trimming of low hanging branches may be necessary. We will only trim those branches that limit our ability to do an effective job. If you are especially concerned about a tree's shape you may prefer to have your tree trimmed before our work begins. We will protect your plants and landscaping from dust and debris.
Q. Do I need to move my car while the house is being re-roofed?
A. It would be best if vehicles, boats and RV's be parked or stored away from your garage and driveway while we are working on the site.
Q. Could anything in my house be damaged?
A. Vibration during roof removal and re-roofing may cause items to fall if they are not firmly attached. It would be a good idea to secure light fixtures, artwork, mirrors, etc.
Q. Will my pets be in any danger?
A. Pets should be contained in safe areas away from the construction site.
Q. Do I need to be home while you are working?
A. No, but we will need to have access to garage, gate codes and lock combinations as needed so we may do our work efficiently for you. If you are out of town during construction, please provide contact information so we may reach you with questions or any issues that may arise.
